I remember being a little boy and getting excited when I had grown some. I remember getting a yard stick and getting my parents to measure me. My children do the same thing. They have a growth chart on a door facing. Every few weeks they will stand next to it and someone will put a mark on the chart where the top of their head is on the chart. They get very excited to see how much they have grown. I imagine you are the same way.
But, do you also get excited to learn more of God's Word? Jesus must have. If you remember, in Luke Chapter 2 we learn that Jesus stayed in Jerusalem when his parents left to go back home. They realized he was not with them and went back to find him. They found him in the temple talking with the best teachers of God's law.
Now Jesus was only 12 years old and already knew a great deal about God's law. He must have enjoyed studying God's Word to be able to know so much about it. But, there is more.
In Luke 2:52 we read, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." Jesus wasn't happy to stop with what he already knew. He continued to study and learn more and more about what God the Father wanted. He studied, learned, and put into action what God wanted him to do. And because of this he not only was looked upon well by God the Father, but also by men.
Be like Jesus. Continue to study your Bible. Learn all you can about God's Word and put it into action. It is exciting to be able to measure your life against God's chart--his Word. It is exciting to see yourself grow in knowledge of God's Word--the Bible.
