The morality of our United States of America has taken a fatal nosedive headed straight for ultimate destruction. Yes, some Americans still have the morals of the Bible, but as a general rule, the U.S. has lost all moral standards.
It is now legal to abort babies before they are given the chance of life. It is medically possible to abort unborn children at any time throughout the pregnancy, even during birth. Galatians 5:21 clearly shows that murder is a sin. Since life begins at fertilization, abortion is murder and sinful.
It is now legal to have same sex marriages. God does not see them as marriages, but the world around us does. God created male and female (Genesis 1:27). Mark 10:6-8 shows us that God intended marriage to be male and female as well.
It is now legal to divorce for any reason. In Matthew 19:3-9 Christ tells us that the only just cause for divorce is fornication. The law of man, however, allows divorce for just about any reason. The latter part of verse 6 says, "…What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder," showing that God intended marriage to be for life. In verse 8, Christ tells us, "…but from the beginning it was not so," in reference to divorce.
It is now legal to get drunk anywhere you please. Yes, there are a few limitations, but bars line our streets. Alcohol vendors invade our stores, restaurants and ballparks. Everywhere we turn, we see advertisements for one brand of alcohol or another. The same is so with tobacco products. Both alcohol and tobacco are legalized drugs that harm the body. Romans 12:1 tells us that we should present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. We should keep our bodies holy and acceptable to him. First Corinthians 3:16-17 tells us that we are the temple of God where his Spirit dwells and he will destroy any who defile his temple. Our bodies are not our own to do with as we please. They are on loan from God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
It is now legal to gamble. Las Vegas, Nevada and Tunica, Mississippi are among two of the many cities devoted to gambling. First Timothy 6:10 tells us that the love of money is the root of all evil. If gambling is not for the love of money, I certainly do not know what is. We did not bring anything into this world and neither can we take anything from this world when we die. God tells us to be content with what we have (1 Timothy 6:7 10).
On all U.S. currency, we find the words, "In God we trust." Our forefathers founded these United States of America with God in their minds. These United States of America were founded with the same moral values in mind that God gives us in the Bible. It is past time to take these United States of America back to the morals it once had, back to the morals of the Bible. It will take time to do this, but the longer we wait to start, the longer it will take to finish.
In order to take the U.S. back to Bible morals, we as adults must do everything in our power to fight the legislation that made these immoralities possible. How do we do this? We elect officials that share the moral values of the Bible. Most of our candidates do not have these good moral standards, so we must elect the candidates that do. Also, we must raise our children with the morals found in the Bible. In Proverbs 22:6 we read, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." If we instill the morals of the Bible in our children, they will always have those morals with them. Likewise, we are commanded to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). We must teach others around us about the morals of the Bible as well. It is a command to do so in Matthew 28:19. By teaching our children and the world the morals of the Bible, we will eventually have candidates with Bible morals.
The road will be long. We may not notice change during our lives, but we must set the ball rolling so our children and their children will have a better United States of America and a better world to live in. We must not give up the fight. "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses" (1 Timothy 6:12). "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).
