A Love for God’s Word

Psalm 119 is the longest section of Scripture in the Bible. The Psalmist expressed joy, comfort and life found in learning God’s Word. He often asked God to teach or to show him His commandments, statutes and judgments. Let’s hear the psalmist.
- “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord!” (v. 1 NKJV).
- “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word” (v. 9).
- “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (v. 11).
- “I will meditate on Your precepts and contemplate your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word” (vs. 15–16).
- “Teach Me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, And I shall keep it to the end” (v. 33).
- “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day” (v. 97).
- “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path” (v. 105).
- “You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word” (v. 114).
- “Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul keeps them” (v. 129).
How would the love of God’s Word change our hearts, minds and attitudes? The Bible is often described as a love letter. God expressed His great love to us through the pages of His Word. A love of Scripture will help us weather any storm. It will also remind us of His work during our greatest joys. Today, may we read in order to understand God’s great will for us!
