David’s sentiment indeed is correct, “The heavens
declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day
unto day
uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no
speech nor
language, where their voice is not heard”
(Psalm 19:1-3, emphasis
added). Truly, God speaks through His natural
revelation found in this
world today. As this author sits alone in his study as the new day
dawns, a
summer storm is carrying the voice of God. This author is made to
reflect upon
The Almighty’s voice as He speaks loudly through the thunder.
No, this voice is
not uttered in words or still small whispers, it is merely carried in
the
wonderful blast from this awesome storm. God speaks in a way that all
must “Be
still, and know that I am God…” (Psalm 46:10a).
What a wonderful message The
Almighty brings through a summer storm.
First, The Voice of the Almighty in the summer storm
displays His Unyielding Power. How could any reasonable
minded human being
sit through a summer storm and not be enthralled with the power of God?
The
awesome rumbles from the thunder shake even the greatest of
superstructures.
The lightning splits in two even the strongest of the creation. The
sweet
Psalmist of Israel said it best, “God hath spoken once; twice
have I heard
this; that power belongeth unto God” (Psalm 62:11). What more
could one say
when the thunder rolls, lightning cracks and the Almighty speaks (cf.
Psalm
77:18)? Mighty man and feeble child both quiver when the voice of God
roars
from heaven above! The Voice of the Almighty in the summer storm
displays His
Unyielding Power!
Secondly, The Voice of the Almighty in the summer
storm divulges His Unbiased Providence. God providentially
sends the storm
upon the earth wherein is found renewed blessings. The rain cleanses
the
terrain, waters the plants and replenishes the parched earth. It seems
to not
matter man’s decency or lack thereof, God still sends the
rain on the just and
on the unjust (cf. Matthew
5:45).
God provides for His creation! What an encouragement is ours to behold,
when we
see God open the floodgates of heaven and rain down His providential
care upon
this world. When we behold the goodness of God, truly, we all are
inclined to
say with the Psalmist, “What is man, that thou art mindful of
him?” (Psalm
8:4). Both the heathen and the godly are blessed by God’s
providential care.
Without partiality, The Voice of the Almighty in the summer storm
divulges His
Unbiased Providence!
The voice of the Almighty through the summer storm will
cause a reasonable man to sit up and listen! The brilliant message the
Almighty
brings through the storm displays His unyielding power and divulges His
unbiased providence. Truly, let us all listen carefully and with unison
may we
echo the words of the inspired Psalmist, “O LORD our Lord,
how excellent is thy
name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the
heavens” (Psalm 8:1).
May we all listen closely to The Voice of The Almighty!
